Armada Hoffler’s Local Presence in Hampton Roads
Armada Hoffler Properties is diverse in the way it is able to maintain a local presence in the Hampton Roads region, while having locations all across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern United States. Our portfolio consists of multi-tenant, Class A office, mixed-use retail or grocery-anchored and Class A multifamily properties.
Here is a list of properties included in our portfolio that are local to Hampton Roads.
Broad Creek Shopping Center – Norfolk, VA
Broad Creek Shopping Center was built in 1997 with its final phase completed in 2001. It is located on Military Highway, one of Norfolk’s busiest shopping districts. This retail property consists of over 227,000 square feet of rentable space on a 43 acre retail strip. Some of its major tenants include PetSmart, Party City, and Food Lion.
Brooks Crossing – Newport News, VA
Brooks Crossing is a mixed-use development that began as a public-private partnership between Armada Hoffler Properties and the City of Newport News. It includes 18,000 square feet of retail space and is a hub for small shops and businesses.
Brooks Crossing Phase II – Newport News, VA
Completed in 2019, this phase of Brooks Crossing features 100,000 square feet of office space that is anchored by Newport News Shipbuilding. 80% of the space is occupied by nearly 600 design and engineering jobs.
Courthouse 7-Eleven – Virginia Beach, VA
This 3,200 square foot retail space is located at the intersection of Nimmo Parkway and Princess Anne Road, near the Virginia Beach Courthouse. Its convenient location drives high traffic to the area.
Greenbrier Square – Chesapeake, VA
Greenbrier Square was built in 2017, but was recently acquired by Armada Hoffler in 2021. The shopping center bolsters more than 260,000 square feet of retail space and it is anchored by the most visited Kroger Marketplace in all of Virginia. The Kroger is 124,000 square feet, making it the largest grocery store in Chesapeake.
Greentree Shopping Center – Chesapeake, VA
This shopping center features 15,700 square feet of retail space occupied by small shops owned by Armada Hoffler Properties. This asset is located near the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters (CHKD), Sentara, a Walmart Neighborhood Market, and Wawa, making it a convenient location for anyone passing through.
Hanbury Village – Chesapeake, VA
Hanbury Village is a retail center that holds over 101,000 square feet of rentable space and roughly 56,000 square feet of land pursuant to a ground lease across 17 acres of land. Completed in 2009, this retail property is anchored by Harris Teeter and is the home to 18 small shops.
Liberty Apartments – Newport News, VA
Liberty Apartments is a multifamily property of 28,000 square feet and features close to 200 units. This Armada Hoffler asset is the residential component of a larger $72 million mixed-use development project created by a public-private partnership between the City of Newport News, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and Armada Hoffler.
Marketplace of Hilltop – Virginia Beach, VA
Marketplace of Hilltop is one of Armada Hoffler’s Virginia Beach assets. It is a prime real estate center in a high-end area of the city with 145,000 residents. Just off Laskin Road, it is the home of Total Wine, Chick-Fil-A, and Panera.
Parkway Marketplace – Virginia Beach, VA
Completed in 1998, this four acre shopping center is shadow-anchored by a corporately owned Food Lion and Rite Aid and is the home of 14 different small shops and tenants. It consists of 37,800 square feet of retail space and is in close proximity to Interstate 64.
Red Mill Commons – Virginia Beach, VA
Another piece of prime real estate in Virginia Beach, Red Mill Commons is an Armada Hoffler asset that was acquired in 2019. It includes 374,000 square feet of retail space with 97% of its space occupied by T.J. Maxx, Homegoods, Starbucks, etc.
Sandbridge Commons – Virginia Beach, VA
Anchored by a 53,000 Harris Teeter, this shopping center was developed and built by Armada Hoffler Properties. It has a total square footage of 70,000 square feet and is the home of many small shops including Goodwill and Sandbridge Family Dental Care.

Town Center of Virginia Beach – Virginia Beach, VA
One of the most widely known properties owned and managed by Armada Hoffler is the Town Center of Virginia Beach. This property is the perfect example of a prosperous mixed-use development in the heart of the city. With over 1,000,000 total square feet of leasable space, 14 properties, and a diverse selection of retail, dining, office, and housing operations, it is truly a welcoming place for everyone.
Tyre Neck Harris Teeter – Portsmouth, VA
Tyre Neck Harris Teeter is a retail property that was developed and built by Armada Hoffler Properties in Portsmouth, VA. It was completed in 2011 and occupies 48,800 square feet of space.
