Breaking Ground All Around

On February 13th, Eric Smith – alongside officials from the City of Newport News, executives from Huntington Ingalls Industries, and our partner and Newport News native Aaron Brooks – broke ground on the next phase of Brooks Crossing. The new 100,000 square foot building will provide office space for Newport News Shipbuilding and learning space for local children interested in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Nearly 600 Newport News Shipbuilding employees – aircraft carrier and submarine engineers, designers, and planners – will occupy the top three floors of the building. The Newport News Economic Development Authority will lease space on the first floor to host STEM programs and workshops for local children. The building is scheduled to be completed in early 2019.

On February 19th, we officially started construction on the Market at Mill Creek, a new 73,000 square foot retail center in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Mill Creek will be anchored by a new Lowes Foods grocery store and will include an additional 23,000 square feet of retail space. Lowes Foods is scheduled to open in early 2019. Mill Creek is the company’s first joint venture partnership with Charleston-based Adams Property Group.
