First apartments at Chronicle Mill redevelopment in Belmont set to deliver this fall
After years of planning and delays, the Chronicle Mill redevelopment in Belmont appears to be moving toward the finish line.
The redevelopment of the old mill building is expected to include 238 apartments and around 9,000 square feet of retail space. John Church and his wife, Jennifer, bought the mill in July 2013 for $258,000. The couple spent years working on planning and environmental concerns at the site, among other issues. Finally, a groundbreaking was set for the second quarter of 2020 before the Covid-19 outbreak hit and delayed it further. Construction began in the first quarter of 2021.
Church is working with Armada Hoffler Properties (NYSE: AHH) on developing the project. Jennifer Harris, Armada Hoffler’s vice president of development, told
the Charlotte Business Journal today that pre-leasing for the apartments would start in July. The first units are expected to deliver at the end of September and residents are expected to move in shortly after, she said. The retail space is on a similar timeline.
